Signs

Sometimes there are things I want to say

things I cannot  utter, in any other way

Things that for me seem to be true

though they might seem like lies to you

And every day I start on something new

By night I'm never finished, it all went askew

With every breath, we take another step

But in which direction who can say

So wrap it up and go outside to play

The sweetest melodies of all, are those of pain

The serious are always in the wrong

with credence in their melancholy songs

Time keeps dragging on

The monsters underneath my bed are growing old

The silence of the stars is creeping in

to finish off the stories that I'm in

And every time we seem to get close

the answers keep on skipping, right across the pond

And everyone who tried to dive in

drowned or died a little within

So wrap it up and go outside to play

The sweetest melodies of all, are those of pain

The serious are always in the wrong

with credence in their melancholy songs

Darlin'

Darlin'

Oh my darlin',  Oh my darlin'

won't you please, let me in

I've been workin', I've been workin'

for a chance, to mend...

Oh my darlin',  Oh my darlin'

Summer days have gone

In the twilight, in the twilight

all I want is my friend...

Oh my darlin',  Oh my darlin'

won't you please, let me in

I've been workin', I've been workin'

for a chance, to mend...

The Captain

The Captain

The captain sets the course that I will take

I'm a stowaway, just glad not to stay

And anywhere is better, heave away

To distant shores and lands of revelry

We twist and turn as waves become our way

The wind is singing  promises of praise

The wood will creak, the sails will beat our pace

The captain knows the stars and finds our way

Away from the wayward pines

Away from city lights

Away from the promises

I'm never gonna keep

Oh, captain, won't you please take me in

To crew the ship that steers me out of sin

I'll steer us straight and learn to feel the wind

To distant shores and lands of revelry

Away from the wayward pines

Away from city lights

Away from the promises

I'm never gonna keep

River of Wrongs

River of Wrongs

Stoned and lost on the river of wrongs

Feel like just drifting along

Fighting on, I'm the tempest, the storm

But I'm calm when I'm alone

Ref:

Carry me on down the line

Ferry me right to the heart, of the river of wrongs

Set in stone, it's the feeling of home

Like the love you put on hold

So take your time on the seduction line

But be careful, you're getting old

Ref:

Carry me on down the line

Ferry me right to the heart, of the river of wrongs

For All You Have Done

For All You Have Done

If I have a daughter, I wish for her to be like you

She would never be lonesome, her friends would line up in queue

I would tell her all the stories that made me the way I am

I would give her all the world and tell her not to be afraid

And if she had a mother, I know that she would be like you

The one who finds the right way and always knows what to do

To take away the pain when the world seems dark and blue

If she had a mother, I wish for her to be like you

ref:

For all you have done, I don't feel right,

not to let you know that you are the one

I wish that I had told you more often than I have before

The words to make you happy, I'll find a way to say them more

I hope I find the right way to tell you how I really feel

For all that you have done, and every thing I know you will

ref x2:

For all you have done, I don't feel right,

not to let you know that you are the one

Walking Waltz

Walking Waltz

The tightest embrace as we erase the things we have shared

The road we traveled that took us here, we'll no longer share

As paths divide, we set aside, the thought of going back

we're miles apart, we've lost the art, to say the things we feel

It seems to me, the only decree I've left for you

Go live your life and find paradise, and try to be true

you have so much to give, I have only one thing left to say

we're miles apart, we've lost the art to say the things we feel

Clocks

Clocks

I wish that time went by minutes alone,

Then the hours and days since you left wound be gone

And I’d count the minutes and feel less alone,

Though time goes on and on

And I hoped the clock had just seconds to show

That I could make it go backwards by staring it down

But time keeps on going and all that I own

Seem lessened, how the seconds have flown

And all those hopes and desires

Were lost by turning of the tide

Now I might seem feeble and broken by life

But when the years turn to dust, I’ll tell you I’m fine

When the young turns old, and it’s the end of the line

I’ll forget about the passing of time

If ever our paths cross each other again,

Pretend that I still look the same.

Just give me a smile and say I look fine,

That I’m untouched by the passage of time

And all those hopes and desires

Were lost by the turning of the tide

Rock n Roll

Rock n Roll

Did you find yourself singing along to that rock'n'roll song

Did you found yourself humming along to the beat and the chords

Scaring righteous believers, so preachers you stay at home

I'll be out playing music, playing rock'n roll all night long

REF:

Now, times are a-changing, and music is moving along

So it's time we start telling the children where their music is from

That is why I'll keep telling the story of how I was born

'Cause my daddy was blues but my mother was a-rock'n'roll

If your legs start thumping and your heart starts jumping along

If your hands start clapping, then we know we got the right groove on

If your body starts moving, then come along and move right on

'Cause your daddy is blues and your mother is rock'n roll

REF:

Now, times are a-changing, and music is moving along

So it's time we start telling the children where their music is from

That is why I'll keep telling the story of how I was born

'Cause my daddy was blues but my mother was a-rock'n'roll

'Cause my daddy was blues but my mother was a-rock'n'roll

On The Prowl

On The Prowl

Think about the changes and all that will come

Will people see a difference at all?

Will you see your friend at all and will they ever call

When you're a married man, ring and all

You know I hang out with girls, and Jesus knows they rock my world

But marriage just don't seem to be that fun

Be together all the time, and be as one in the eyes of God

Oh, I'll stay singel for a while

REF:

Oh I might crumble, but if I can rumble, I'll stay out on the prowl

Think about it for yourself, is this what life is all about

Marry, have some children, a picket fence?

Or would you rather prance about and take your time to find out

What life means for a man with better sense

REF:

Oh I might crumble, but if I can rumble, I'll stay out on the prowl

Oh I might crumble, but if I can rumble, I'll stay out on the prowl

I'll stay out on the prowl

The Wise Man

The Wise Man

Sitting on a corner when the night has lost its fight

Lost in the city with the twilight blurring out the sights

There in the castle of his mind sits a man of might

With the courage of a bottle he found God in the city lights

He tells the story of the wisest man around

Who doesn’t need the confines or the comforts that will make him bound

Take it from the man who’s seen the belly of the beast first hand

Life will pick you pockets so be sure to close you heart first chance

For the freedom found in just one man

is enough for cracks to start in a fellow traveling heart

Listen to the story he will tell you how to find the truth

He will spin a tale like no man can and tell you that he missed his youth

He will give you all the pieces and the shards of his puzzled life

He’s been the king, the thief, the gambler but he’s never been the happy kind

Sitting on a corner when the night has lost its fight

Lost in the city with the twilight blurring out the sites

There in the castle of his mind sits a man of might

With the courage of a bottle he found God in the city lights

For the freedom found in just one man

is enough for cracks to start in a fellow traveling heart x2

The Sun Goes down

The Sun Goes Down

Crawl, crawl, crawl

Crawl towards the door

Don't stay down, please get up

Get off the floor

The shadows fall

On the land that took in all

With a gun to the head

The last thing she said:

"We'll be back from the dead"

Ref:

The sun goes down

On freedom town

Like 1865 - we're backtracking now

Like a burning cross

A reminder of how it was

It came too fast

The ghost from the past

Let's hope it's the last

Crawl, crawl, crawl

Crawl towards the door

Don't stay down, please get up

Get off the floor

Ref:

The sun goes down

On freedom town

Like 1865 - we're backtracking now

The Road

The Road

A prayer out on the road a from a broken man to carry him home

I would take your burden on, if my back weren’t trodden and laden with stones

To be the savior of nothing at all is how I carry on…….

On the road If you don’t step aside for a fool

On the road would you then step aside for two?

I’d carry the world on my own, but the wheight on my mind has anchored my soul

And the burden of carrying hope, is lost on the father and the wayward son

To be the savior of nothing at all is how to carry on

I’d carry you on my back, but when hope I frail than so is strength

So, I’ll leave you on the road if find your way back convey my hope

To the saviors of nothing at all…. I hope you carry on

An Old Song

An Old Song

There was a time not long ago, when the people just to sing the old song

While sowing or wielding their hoe, came the melodies and word that they knew

In the evening they would gather round the fire, and sing songs about their dreams and desires

It gave them all a common bond, that everybody knew the same song

Ref:

Carry me back to the old home, down the valley, round the bend, then straight on

There’s a quarry empty of stone, where my Father learned to sing his first song

Now, there’s a song that I like to sing, with a melody as old as those hills

When I hear it, I get carried away, and wish that I had learned to sing that way

With a tone as somber as stone, and a wisdom I will never know

But the melody I know it well, it holds a  story I would like to tell

Ref:

Carry me back to the old home, down the valley, round the bend, then straight on

There’s a quarry empty of stone, where my Father learned to sing his first song

Where my Father learned to sing his first song

Where my Father learned to sing his first song
